Everything About Semi Automatic Washing Machines

What are Semi-Automatic washing machines?

Semi-Automatic washing machines are washing machines that are not as efficient as fully automatic washing machines but far better than regular washing machines. These washing machines are halfway between doing the laundry by hand and having a machine that does the laundry for you without stress.

Types

Semi automatics are mostly top loaders and there are two types: single tub and twin tub  semi automatic washing machines. They both have their pros and but they function almost the same way. A single tub semi-automatic has only one tub while a twin-tub has two; one for washing and one for spinning.

Single Tub Semi Automatic Washing Machine

They have one tub and take less space. Washing and spinning is done in one tub. And they are very easy to use.

Twin-Tub Semi Automatic Washing Machine

They have two tubs, one for washing and the other for spinning. After washing is done in the washer tub, you'll have to transfer them to the spinner tub.
Note That: the power should be off before transferring the clothes because the presence of water can allow for electric shock and we wouldn't want that.

Semi Automatic vs Fully Automatic

Pros

Affordable

Semi automatic washing machines are not as pricey as their counterparts and they are perfect for any home. They are very convenient and easy to use.

Water and energy efficient

With a semi automatic, you'll be able to feed in an adequate amount of water for each cycle, this will prevent wastage of water. Also, they don't use too much energy in washing or spinning so they're energy efficient as well.

Control

Using a semi automatic washing machine is very convenient as we the users are in full control because we can control the intake of water by the machine, the type of cycle that be deem fit and we that's a big advantage. Also, power outage is not a problem because we can start, pause and continue the cycle whenever we want.

Economic

This type of washing machine is very economic. We can re-use rinse water for another wash cycle and since we control of amount of water the washing machine uses, water won't be wasted too much.

Cons

Every great technology has its pros or advantages and more importantly, their cons. it is from their cons that we can decide if they are worth investing in.

Less convenient

Semi automatic washing machines are not as ergonomic or convenient as the fully automatics. Yes they do most of the work for us but we still have to do some extra work (like transferring clothes between tubs)  and also supervise them to make sure they function properly.

Not as efficient

It's not like they're not efficient, they are. Afterall, they do more work for us than other washing machines do. However, fully automatics are much more efficient. Because they collect the necessary amount of water and detergent, they therefore provide cleaner clothes. Since we control the intake of water for semi automatics, sometimes we might not put in the right amount of water or detergent which would lead to them not being as efficient as fully automatic washing machines.
