Washing Machine Guide
Before getting a washing machine, you need to know what you
want (laundry needs) the washing machine to do so that you can be able to find
and recognize the washing machine that is perfect for your home. This washing
machine guide is here to help all of us discover our laundry needs and be able
to select the washing machine that would perfectly suit those needs.
Why Do You Need a Washing Machine?
The main reason why anyone would buy a washing machine is to
help us with our laundry and satisfy all of our laundry needs.
What Are Our Laundry Needs?
How many clothes or how much laundry do we do on a daily or
weekly basis?
How fast do I want the laundry to be done?
How often do I do the laundry?
Now we've seen why we need a washing machine, read on to
find more about purchasing a washing machine.
There is a lot of things and factors to consider before
getting a washing machine. I've narrowed it down to the most necessary and very
important ones.
Washing Machine Type: Front or Top Loader Washing Machine / Automatic or Semi Automatic Washing Machine
This is the number one factor to be considered when buying a
washing machine. You have to decide between a front loader washing machine and
a top loader washing machine. For you to know which washing machine type is
best for you and your household, you'll have to know a few things about each of
them. I've made a short explanation below to help you understand these types of
washing machines easily but you can check here for further information on front loader ortop loader washing machines.
Front Loader Washing Machine
In this washing machine, the laundry is loaded at the side
or front of the washer.
Front loader washing machines are usually more expensive
than top loaders.
They are heavy making them difficult to move or relocate.
Also, moving them could cause problems and damage the washer if not done
properly (we wouldn't want that).
Front loaders are generally more water and energy efficient
their counterparts top loader washing machines.
Front loader washing machines can have semi automatic and
automatic washing machine types.
It is not simple or cheap to maintain a front loader washing
machine. It's parts are not cheap or easy to find plus they require specific
types of detergent to use and they need to have a source of water they can tap
from when doing the laundry.
Top Loader Washing Machine
They are not as expensive as front loader washing machines.
This type of washing machine is loaded from the top of the
washer, hence it is called top loader washing machine.
It is not as heavy as front loaders and it is very easy to
move or relocate it to a different location.
Cheap, easy and
simple maintenance. It is not as complicated to maintain a top loader as it is
a front loader. A top loader washing machine does not require special detergent
or laundry products, its parts are easy to come by and they don’t require a
steady water source to function.
They wash clothes well but not as effectively as front
loader washing machines do.
Automatic Washing Machine
They are expensive washing machines.
It has front loader and top loader washing machine types.
Does all the laundry work with a single push of a button.
Semi Automatic Washing Machine
Not as expensive as automatic washing machines.
Requires little work to be done, example transferring
laundry from washer to dryer or spinner compartment.
Author Tip:
If you're short on money but need a washing machine fast to
reduce loads of laundry work for you, a top loader is the one to go for.
Whether you go for a semi automatic or automatic one is up
to you. if finance is not a problem, then the sky is your limit since you can
choose between any of these types of washing machine.
Washing Machine Capacity
The wash capacity of a washing machine is another factor to
consider when buying a washing machine. this factor can sometimes consider the
size of the family and the family members. A washing machine should have at
least 5kg wash capacity.
Family Size
The size of the family also greatly determines the washing
machine to buy. For a single person, a washing machine of 5kg wash capacity
will suffice. Two persons (or a couple) can do with 5.5kg washing machine wash
capacity and adding one more person to the family could equate to additional
0.5kg to the washer's wash capacity. So we have:
One person - 5kg
2 persons - 5-5.5kg washing machine wash capacity
3 persons - 5.5-6kg
4 persons - 6-6.5kg
And so on…
Family Members
People don't usually consider this but its not only the size
of the family that should be considered, the makeup of the family (family
members) should also be considered too. Let me explain why this matters. For
example, if there is an older person in the family and he/she is going to be
using the washing machine you buy sometime in the future, it would be difficult
for that person to bend over and load clothes inside a front loader washing
machine so a top loader would be preferable. However, this problem can be
remedied if the front loader washing machine is placed on top of something so
that it wouldn't be too low. If a short person is going to operate a top loader
washing machine it may be difficult for him/her to reach deep inside the tub to
retrieve washed clothes therefore a front loader would be advised.
Also, a family with little to no time for household chores,
an automatic or semi automatic washing machine would be best as long as you can
afford to purchase and maintain it because they are faster and need little to
no human assistance to get the job done.
Position Of The Washing Machine In The Laundry Room
Before getting a washing machine, you should have a place to keep it. Whether a laundry room or
in the bathroom or kitchen, find a place that is good and that would not be an
obstruction, a place where the washing
machine would fit perfectly. Make sure that the position it is in would
favor everybody in the family.
Water Source
Some washing machines need a constant stream or source of
water for them to function properly. If you are to get a front loader washing
machine or an automatic washing machine, then you should have a constant source
of water.
Washer Dryers
Washer dryers are washing machines that have dryers in them.
Although, washers and dryers are best when they work independently, many people
prefer washer dryers because they save money and are a lot faster.
Washing Machine Tub Material
Most washing machines are made with plastic, stainless
steel, porcelain coat or porcelain-enamel coating. Plastic is durable and
affordable and would make the machine last longer. Stainless steel is the most
durable and are used for the very best models. A washing machine with porcelain
coating can reduce the quality of the washing machine if it chips so a
porcelain enamel coating is preferable, it is also the most common.
Whichever tub material you want for your washing machine is
totally up to you.
